Expedition Daily Itinerary

Day One – Arrive in Quito, Ecuador

Arrive in Quito

¡Bienvenida a Ecuador! Upon arrival at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO), follow the signs to Customs. After you pass through Customs, head to Baggage Claim where a representative holding an orange Adventures by Disney sign will meet you and provide assistance you with your luggage. Once you have your luggage, the representative will escort you to your awaiting transportation to the hotel that is located at Mariscal Sucre Airport.

Check-In at the Hotel

Arrive at the Wyndham Quito Airport, conveniently located at Mariscal Sucre Airport, and get to know this comfortable hotel that embraces the spirit of the Ecuadorian capital while your Adventure Guides check you in. Adventurers will have the evening to explore Quito. Ask your Adventure Guide for sightseeing and dining recommendations.

Day Two – Fly to Baltra, Embark on the Galápagos Legend, Bartolome Island with Local Naturalist, Shipboard Welcome Reception & Dinner

¡Buenos Días! Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your leisure before your flight to Baltra.

Fly to Baltra

Transfer via coach to Mariscal Sucre Airport (UIO) for your flight to Seymour Airport (GPS) on Baltra Island. Upon your arrival on the island, you and your baggage will be transferred to the ship.

Panga Ride to Ship & Embarkation

Transfer to the ship via a panga boat, an outboard-powered boat that is common throughout this region. Once aboard the ship, you’ll check-in and then embark on your adventure of a lifetime.

Shipboard Welcome Orientation

Familiarize yourself with the Galápagos Legend—your home for the next 6 days—at this orientation where you’ll learn about the amenities and features of the ship as well as receive some important safety information.

Lunch on Board the Ship

Enjoy a delicious meal on board the ship before heading out for an afternoon adventure.

Bartolome Island Hike & Snorkeling

Experience the beauty of Bartolome Island as you join a naturalist for a hike up Summit Trail where you’ll take in the breathtaking views while learning about the island.

After your hike, enjoy snorkeling off the beach at Pinnacle Rock where you may be joined by penguins and sea lions.

Welcome Reception & Dinner

Gather together with your fellow Adventurers and Adventure Guides for a welcome reception followed by a delicious meal on board the ship.

Day Three – South Plaza Island: Morning Wildlife Walk with Naturalist, North Seymour Island: Hike Amongst Nesting Grounds with Naturalist, Snorkeling with Local Expert

South Plaza Island Morning Wildlife Walk with Naturalist

Explore the scenic surroundings of South Plaza Island as a naturalist guides you on a walk among sea lions, the largest land iguanas, blue-footed boobies and a cactus forest.

Enjoy a delicious meal on board the ship before heading out for an afternoon adventure.

North Seymour Island Excursion & Snorkeling with Local Naturalist

Enjoy an afternoon hike with a local naturalist who will take you amongst the open nesting ground of blue-footed boobies and the largest colonies of Frigate birds.

Follow your hike with a refreshing dip in the turquoise waters where you’ll snorkel and get a good look at the area’s marine life—you may even have a shark sighting!

Dinner on Board the Ship and Junior Adventurer Pizza Party

Join your fellow Adventurers for dinner in the ship’s dining room. Junior Adventurers will have their own pizza party.

Evening Onboard Activities

Day Four – Pitt Point with Panga Tour of Coastline with Booby Species Hike, Kayaking & Snorkeling with Naturalist, Cerro Brujo Beach

Pitt Point Excursion with Naturalist

Enjoy a morning of exploration as a naturalist leads you on a panga tour of the magnificent San Cristóbal coastline and then on a hike where you’ll see all 3 booby species. Then, cool off with some water fun where you’ll paddle in a glass-bottom kayak and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of the island.

Cerro Brujo

Have some fun in the sun as you take to the beautiful Cerro Brujo beach with a chance to hike, snorkel and kayak while you take in the seaside setting that surrounds you.

Day Five – Cerro Colorado Tortoise Breeding Center, Interpretation Center & Tijeretas Hill, Otoy Organic Farms

Morning Activity – Guests will be split into 2 groups for the morning activity, then switch activities in the afternoon)

GROUP A:

Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado

Accompanied by naturalists, visit this amazing nature reserve and breeding center that was built to improve the island’s tortoise population. During your visit, you’ll get a fascinating view of tortoises at various life stages.

GROUP B:

Interpretation Center & Tijeretas Hill

Accompanied by naturalists, experience the Interpretation Center where you’ll discover all sorts of interesting information on the formation of the Galápagos Islands, as well as its significance to the world, threats and conservation efforts. Afterwards, take a hike to Cerro Tijeretas (Frigate Bird Hill), where you’ll have great looks at both species of frigatebird, along with a stunning view of the beautiful bay below.

Exclusive Barbecue Lunch at Otoy Organic Farms

Enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch in your honor at the restaurant of this wonderful family-run organic farm. In this exclusive experience, you’ll also have the opportunity to make sugar cane juice, feed goats and play basketball, volleyball or soccer.

GROUP A:

Interpretation Center & Tijeretas Hill

Accompanied by naturalists, experience the Interpretation Center where you’ll discover all sorts of interesting information on the formation of the Galápagos Islands, as well as its significance to the world, threats and conservation efforts. Afterwards, take a hike to Cerro Tijeretas (Frigate Bird Hill), where you’ll have great looks at both species of frigatebird, along with a stunning view of the beautiful bay below.

GROUP B:

Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado

Accompanied by naturalists, visit this amazing nature reserve and breeding center that was built to improve the island’s tortoise population. During your visit, you’ll get a fascinating view of tortoises at various life stages.

On Your Own Shopping in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno

Take in the sights of the capital of Galápagos Province as you shop in the quaint stores where you’re sure to find the perfect gifts for friends and family, or an ideal keepsake to remind you of your adventures.

Day Six – Gardner Bay, Gardner & Osborn Islets: Hiking, Swimming & Snorkeling with Naturalist, Suarez Point Hike with Naturalist

Guided Tour of Gardner Bay, Gardner & Osborn Islets with Naturalist

Join a knowledgeable naturalist for a tour the southernmost, and at an estimated 4 million years old, one of the oldest of the Galápagos Islands. The area, known as Española, is home to Gardner Bay, whose white sand beach and turquoise waters make it one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galápagos. Española mockingbirds are fearless, and often land on the heads and shoulders of visitors to the island. Green Sea Turtles and sea lions are also a common site in the area, often coming onto the beach for a rest.

Naturalist-Led Guided Tour of Suarez Point

Encounter the varied denizens of the oldest extant island in the archipelago as you walk through this beautiful area. Some of the island’s residents you may encounter include, marine iguanas, sea lions, boobies, endemic lizards and the waved albatross.

Day Seven – Morning Walk, Swim & Snorkel with Naturalist, Visit Oldest Post Office in the Pacific, Soccer with the Legend Crew, Cormorant Point, Devil’s Crown & Champion Islet with Naturalist

Floreana Island Excursion & Post Office Visit

Enjoy a morning of swimming, hiking, kayaking and snorkeling in this gorgeous setting. Then, after a short walk from the beach, you’ll reach the famous Post Office Barrel. Claimed to have been set up in 1793 by Captain James Colnett, it remains the oldest functioning “post office” in the Pacific. In the spirit of tradition, visitors today will often take letters and hand-deliver them in their home countries.

Soccer with the Legend Crew

Get your kicks while surrounded by the beauty that is the Galápagos Islands. Players of all levels and ages are welcome to join their fellow Adventurers for a soccer match against the crew of the Legend. Show off your fancy footwork! Exalt in the cheers of your fellow passengers! Everyone is a winner when playing the “beautiful game” in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Follow your adventure-filled morning with a delicious lunch on board the ship before continuing your day on the islands.

Naturalist-Led Tour of Cormorant Point, Devil’s Crown and Champion Islet

Walk across the dark beach, rich with volcanic crystal that gives the sand its subtle green hue, on your way to Devil’s Crown, one of the island’s best snorkeling sites. Along the way you may encounter an array of the island’s inhabitants, which include pink flamingos, green turtles, penguins and harmless white-tipped reef sharks. At Devil’s Crown, an eroded volcanic cone, there is an abundance of fish and marine life. You’ll snorkel with big schools of fish and may see spotted eagle rays and even hammerhead sharks. You’ll also visit Champion Islet, which is home to the last remaining island-endemic Floreana mockingbird.

Day Eight – Charles Darwin Research Station & Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, Centro de Educación Visit and Bazaar, Coffee Farm, Ballena Bay & Eden Islet with Naturalist

Naturalist-Led Tour of Charles Darwin Research Station & Fausto Llerena Breeding Center

Visit the one-time home of the famous Lonesome George, the last tortoise of the Pinta race. The center, which is set in the Galapagos National Park Service, contains various interpretive buildings dedicated to providing knowledge and assistance through scientific research to the ensure the conservation of the environment and biodiversity in the Galapagos Archipelago.

Centro de Educación Visit and Bazaar

Tour this center which provides an inclusive environment for special needs students from the Islands to pursue their creative interests. There will be an exclusive bazaar where you will be able to view and purchase crafts to support their school.

Coffee Farm Tour/Tasting

Join a local expert for a tour of an authentic coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about the life cycle of the coffee bean that’s grown in volcanic rock and is responsible for the famous flavor of the region’s amazing coffee. And if you’re not already awake, follow your tour with a tasting that is guaranteed to kick-start your day!

Rancho El Manzanillo in the Santa Cruz Highlands

Discover the pride of the Galápagos Islands! See famed giant tortoises in their natural habitat, moving at their usual unhurried pace. Take a privately guided tour of the Galápagos Tortoise Reserve and learn about these elegant behemoths as you walk among them. You may also see many of the islands' bird species, including Darwin's finches, cattle egrets and short-eared owls.

Follow your adventure-filled morning with a delicious lunch on board the ship before continuing your day on the islands.

Naturalist-Led Tour of Ballena Bay and Eden Islet

Enjoy myriad water activities, including snorkeling, kayaking and a glass-bottom boat ride, in this idyllic location where you may spot fish species like king angelfish, surgeonfish, parrot fish, damsels, rays and sharks. While on the land, you can expect to see sea lions and basking marine iguanas with herons and turtles in the nearby mangrove areas. You may also even discover some antique ceramic relics left behind by previous settlements.

You’ll also visit Eden Islet, which is off Santa Cruz’ western coast. The islet offers opportunities to spot marine life that includes blue-footed boobies, reef sharks and bream fish.

Farewell Dinner

Day Nine – Disembark Galápagos Legend, Carlton Point with Naturalist, Fly to Quito

Carrion Point with Naturalist

Dive into the crystal-clear waters of this sheltered cove on the eastern coast of Santa Cruz for a superb morning of snorkeling amid a wide range of marine life that includes Galápagos rays, sharks and an innumerable array of tropical fish.

Transfer to Seymour Airport & Lunch

Following your morning at the beach, you will be transferred to Seymour Airport (GPS) on Baltra Island for your flight to Quito. You will enjoy a specially prepared boxed lunch prior to your flight.

Fly to Quito for Journey Home OR Optional Post Night Stay in Quito

Arrive at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO). Guests can stay at the airport for later flights, or transfer to Wyndham Quito Airport for either an optional short or post night stay in Quito.
