Arrive in Paris, France

Fly into Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) where you will be greeted by your driver who will handle your luggage and transportation to your hotel, the Hilton Paris Opera.

Meet your Adventure Guides upon arrival at this amazing hotel, steeped in classic Parisian elegance located in the heart of The City of Lights—Paris!

 

Welcome Reception and Dinner at the Hotel

Say bonjour to your fellow Adventurers while enjoying a delicious dinner beneath the magnificent crystal chandelier in the hotel’s stately Salon Baccarat.

Day Two

 

Breakfast at the Hotel

Start your day with a hearty breakfast buffet and get ready for a remarkable day seeing the sites of Paris.


Morning Activities - Guests will Rotate Between 3 Activities:

1) Louvre Museum Tour & Junior Adventurer Art Detective Game
From the Da Vinci’s enigmatic Mona Lisa to the Venus de Milo, you’ll encounter some of the world’s greatest masterpieces created by true masters.
While the adults tour the museum, Junior Adventurers can participate in a unique interactive scavenger hunt and uncover clues leading to some of the Louvre’s secrets and most famous works of art.

2) Les Caves Du Louvre
This unique Paris venue is a former royal wine cellar established by King Louis XV’s sommelier and recently renovated into an enchanting and uniquely Parisian destination.

3) Notre Dame Cathedral Tour
Enjoy a privately guided tour of this Gothic structure with its flying buttresses, soaring spires and iconic bell tower, made famous by Victor Hugo’s novel about the legendary hunchback, Quasimodo. You’ll hear stories about the creation of this architectural masterpiece and its grimacing gargoyles. Adventurers may also have a chance to climb the bell tower for a remarkable view of Paris stretched out far below.

Option A) Montamartre Tour with Wine Tasting
Walk in the footsteps of some of the greatest artists of the 20th century as you stroll through the same streets that Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, van Gogh, Renoir and many others once roamed. You’ll also visit the awe-inspiring Sacré Coeur Basilica, as well as soak up Montmartre’s legendary bohemian vibe with a visit to a local tavern for a wine tasting.

Option B) Saint-Germain-Des-Prés Walking Gourmet Tour
Located in Paris’ 6th arrondissement, this quarter is located around the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and is known as the Left Bank. It is also home to several popular cafés and restaurants that will give you a true taste of Parisian cuisine.

Option C) Fashion Walking Tour in Le Marais
Strut down the streets of Le Marais, one of the city’s most fashionable neighborhoods, where you’ll have the opportunity to tour up-and-coming designer boutiques as well as shop the newest Paris fashion trends.

Stand in awe as you look upon Paris’ most iconic landmark. Standing 1,063 feet (324 meters) tall, this architectural marvel, constructed from 1887-89 by engineer Gustave Eiffel, remains one of the world’s most recognizable structures.

Claude Monet's House and Gardens Visit

Adventurers choose if they want to walk, bike or take a motor coach to the stunning Giverny landscape. At the house, everyone will meet up for a privately-guided visit that includes the and lush gardens where French impressionist painter Claude Monet found inspiration for some of his most renowned works, including Water Lilies and Wheatstacks.

 

Learn to Paint at Giverny Museum of Impressionisms

Discover the works of Monet and see the influence that his work had on his contemporaries, as well as generations of artists that followed him. Junior Adventurers will get a painting lesson with a real haystack set up for inspiration.

 

Lunch Onboard the Ship

Head back to the ship for a delightful lunch before heading back to Vernon for an afternoon of adventure.

Option A) Château De Bizy
Marvel at the ornate castle and stunning gardens that showcase a true passion for elegance. This amazing castle and vast gardens, now a historic monument, was begun in 1740 with successive owners adding their own touches through the years. The gardens boast a splendid collection of fountains, and English vegetable garden and The Promenade de Venus, an old French garden whose Avenue des Capucins leads directly to the Seine. Adventurers will have the opportunity to participate in traditional French lawn games and enjoy refreshments on the beautiful grounds.

Option B) On Your Own in Vernon
Adventurers may choose to explore the lovely historical district of Vernon, located on the banks of the river Seine and home to quaint shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as sites like the Old Mill, the Archives Tower, Tourelles Castle and the House of Long Ago.

Option C) On Your Own Bicycle Ride in Vernon
Enjoy a leisurely, On Your Own bike ride through the town of Vernon where you can explore the historical district and its Gothic architecture, 12th-century castles and the famous old mill.

Enjoy Dinner Onboard the Ship

Return to the ship for a lovely dinner where you can share stories of your day in Vernon.

Day Five

Spend the day on the beaches of Normandy, including Omaha Beach, the site of the famed D-Day invasion.

Honor the brave American soldiers who fought to defend our freedom in World War II on Normandy Beach—the site where an armada of Allied troops landed on D-Day.

 

Barbeque Lunch

Feed your appetite with a mouth-watering barbeque.

Étretat Cliffs Hike

Take in the breathtaking views as you hike at the beautiful seaside commune and farming town of Étretat, known for its stunning chalk cliffs, which include three natural arches and a pointed formation known as the Needle, which reaches a height of 230 feet (70 meters) above the sea overlooking the English Channel.

 

On Your Own Time in Étretat Village

Enjoy some time on your own exploring the quaint seaside village which is home to the Notre-Dame de la garde Chapel which was built by sailors in the 19th century, as well as the old market square that is home to a number of charming boutiques and shops featuring local cheese and apple products.

 

Lunch Onboard the Ship

Head back to the ship and enjoy a lovely lunch before setting out for an afternoon of adventure.

 

Afternoon Activity Options:

Option A) On Your Own Time in Honfleur
Spend the afternoon strolling and shopping through the picturesque coastal town of Honfleur, whose Vieux-Bassin (old harbor) has served as the inspiration for artists that include Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin and Claude Monet. The town, located where the Seine meets the English Channel, is home to the Sainte-Catherine church, a 15th-century church built by shipbuilders and is the largest wooden church in France.

Option B) Apple Orchard & Calvados Tasting
Spend the afternoon touring a local apple orchard, where you’ll learn about – and taste – calvados, a sweet apple brandy that is a specialty of the Normandy region.

You’ll explore the Jewish Quarter, see the Gothic churches, including Cathédral Notre-Dame and walk along the cobblestoned pedestrian center that is lined with medieval half-timbered houses. 

During the tour, you’ll also treat your taste buds to a French epicurean delight as you sample some of the finest cheeses and chocolates in Normandy, a city known for its dairy, as well as its small farms and confectioners.

Option B) Tree Climbing Park
Take to the treetops at the Parc Abr’en Ciel, where you’ll enjoy an exciting adventure of tree climbing rope courses for all ages.

Adventurers that choose the off-ship canoe activity will enjoy a delightful picnic lunch while those that stayed on the ship will have an onboard lunch.

Option A) Château Gaillard Hike
Reward yourself with spectacular views of the Seine and the Normandy countryside after an exhilarating hike 300 feet (90 meteres) above the commune of Les Andelys to the Chȃteau Gaillard, a ruined medieval castle that was constructed in 1196 AD under Richard the Lionheart.

Option B) Château Gaillard Bike
Bike the trails around the provincial town of Les Andelys and then ascend 300 feet (90 meters) to the ruins of Chȃteau Gaillard, where you’ll feast your eyes on spectacular views of the River Seine and the Normandy countryside that stretches for miles below.

Option C) Château Gaillard Hike & Bike
For those fit Adventurers with extra energy to burn, get the best of both worlds as you take to the hiking and biking trails on your trek through the gorgeous Normandy town of Les Andelys with its magnificent views of the Seine and the Chȃteau Gaillard, high

Day Nine

Option A) Visit Chateau Malmaison
Explore this exquisite French castle and its accompanying park that was once home to Napoleon and Josephine, as well as the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802. It now serves as a national museum.

Option B) Visit Auvers-sur-Oisev
Get inspired on your visit to this commune in Paris’ northwest suburbs where, during the 19th century, artists including, Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro and Jean-Baptise-Camille Corot. Most notably, however, was Vincent van Gogh, who lived and painted here. The guided visit includes the final resting cemetery of both Vincent and Theo van Gogh, as well as a look inside the boarding house where Vincent last lived.

Option A) Scenic Sail to Paris
Relax and soak up the scenery on a daytime sailing to Paris. Junior Adventurers may participate in a series of fun and entertaining “field day” activities.

Leave the ship and take a motor coach to Paris for an afternoon of On Your Own time exploring the sites, shops and cafés of the city.

Farewell Dinner Onboard the Ship
Say au revoir to your fellow Adventurers and new-found friends as you celebrate the conclusion of an amazing adventure-filled vacation cruising down the River Seine.

Day 10

Settle in for one last breakfast at the close of your incredible adventure.
