FANTASMIC! -
Presented on the Rivers of America, Fantasmic is an eye-popping and
amazing show complete with laser-projected images, fireworks,
water-bound floats, music, lighting effects, fog and more! The story
follows Mickey as he battles against some of Disney's nastiest villains…but
don't worry, in the end good triumphs over evil!
The show lasts 23 minutes and
during the summer is presented nightly, with two showings on selected
evenings. During the off-season, Fantasmic is only presented on
weekends. If it's windy or raining, the show will be cancelled, and an
announcement will be made on the PA system in the area.
Because this show is very popular
and there is no seating area, staking out a viewing spot is crucial. On
crowded days, it's not unusual to see people staking out their viewing
spot two hours or more in advance. If there are two showings of
Fantasmic when you are there, opt for the second showing if you can - it
is generally much less crowded.
Another option, if you're willing
to be at Guest Relations at the entrance to the park VERY early, is the
Fantasmic Dessert Buffet. For $35 per person, you can view Fantasmic
from the balcony outside the Disney Gallery, plus enjoy an
all-you-can-eat dessert buffet. But beware, seating here is very limited
and these tickets generally sell out within minutes.
BELIEVE: THERE'S MAGIC IN THE
STARS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR - This dazzling new fireworks show,
developed to celebrate Disneyland's 45th anniversary, features Tinker
Bell in a sparkling extravaganza accompanied by a beautiful symphonic
score. The show takes place over Sleeping Beauty's castle, and the prime
viewing spot is smack in the middle of Main Street, near the Plaza Inn,
facing the castle. Crowds become VERY heavy in Main Street prior to the
show, so don't plan on trying to get through the area during the
fireworks.
DISNEYLAND'S 45 YEARS OF MAGIC…PARADE
OF THE STARS - Recently re-vamped with new music and other
minor changes, this parade features floats inspired by the work of
classic artists and their images of "the maps of Heaven" -
constellations in the shape of animals. Guests from the crowd are also
chosen to participate in the parade and dance with the animals and
characters.
This is a unique Disney parade,
and since it has already been through one change due to negative
reaction, it is possible that it will continue to evolve throughout the
year. Prime viewing areas are along Main Street and in front of the
Plaza Inn.
ANIMAZEMENT - THE MUSICAL
Presented in the Fantasyland Theatre Stage, this live musical features
characters from recent Disney animated films as they are
"drawn" into life. This show also gets mixed reviews, and can
be skipped if you have limited time. If it's raining, the show will be
cancelled.
THE ALL NEW WOODY'S ROUNDUP
- Join Woody, Jessie, Bullseye and the gang in this campy take-off of
kiddie cowboy shows of the 1950s. Jessie is trapped in a cave and the
show follows the adventures of Woody and Bullseye as they try to save
her. With the enormous popularity of Toy Story 2, this is a favorite and
to avoid crowds try and see the first or last shows of the day.
