MAIN STREET, U.S.A.
As you pass through the
turnstiles to enter the park, walk past the beautiful floral landscaping
and through either tunnel to enter the quaint re-creation of a street in
Walt's boyhood home in Marceline, Missouri. Main Street represents
America as she was in the 1900s, and you'll find shops, restaurants and
vehicles to transport you back to yesteryear. Be sure and check out the
names of the "proprietors" in some of the Main Street windows
- these are some of the people who helped Walt realize his dream of
building Disneyland Ò.
TIP: Main Street can become very
congested during parades and fireworks shows. If you're not planning on
watching the entertainment, plan your schedule to be elsewhere in the
park during the shows.
ATTRACTIONS
Disneyland Ò RAILROAD
- Board an old-fashioned steam train and ride around the park, with stops
in New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown and Tomorrowland. You'll also
venture past the Grand Canyon and Primeval World. The entire trip around
the park takes about 20 minutes, or you can hop off at any stop. Must be
fully ambulatory to ride.
TIP: The train is one way to get
around the park when parade routes are congesting major walkways.
MAIN STREET CINEMA - This small
theater shows black-and-white cartoon classics from the Disney
repertoire, including the classic "Steamboat Willie" (the 1928
film where a certain MOUSE and his friend Minnie made their debut!). The
theater is standing room only, no seats, and is a cool and relaxing
place to escape on a hot day. It is fully accessible for those in
wheelchairs.
MAIN STREET VEHICLES - You can
board a variety of vehicles from yesteryear, including a Fire Engine,
Horse-Drawn Streetcar, Horseless Carriage and Omnibus for a one-way trip
up or down Main Street. These vehicles do not run during parades. Guests
in wheelchairs must transfer from the wheelchair to ride.
THE WALT DISNEY STORY, FEATURING
"GREAT MOMENTS WITH MR. LINCOLN" - Walt's admiration for our
16th president is evident with this show and audio-animatronic
presentation. Located in the Main Street Opera House, you first enter
the lobby filled with exhibits and information about Walt's life. Be
sure and check out the display of Walt's formal and working offices from
his Burbank studios. In the show, you'll see a film with the story of
the Civil War and then watch as President Lincoln comes to life and
delivers a powerful and moving speech (that is actually a compilation of
several speeches he gave during his life). Shows are presented every 20
minutes on the hour. This attraction is fully accessible to guests in
wheelchairs. Reflective captioning and assistive-listening devices are
available (see a Cast Member for details).
RESTAURANTS & REFRESHMENTS
BLUE RIBBON BAKERY - This yummy shop features pastries, rolls, cookies,
cakes and other treats, plus coffee and drinks. No chairs.
CARNATION CAFÉ - Featuring
sit-down service, the Café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a
varied menu. Healthy selections and vegetarian options are available.
GIBSON GIRL ICE CREAM PARLOR - Here
you'll find all kinds of ice cream delights, including their special
waffle cones.
MAIN STREET CONE SHOP - More ice
cream and frozen yogurt are available here.

the only character meal available in the park, a breakfast buffet.
Hearty lunches and dinners are also served, buffeteria style. Children's
