NEW ORLEANS SQUARE

You'll feel right as if you're in the heart of New Orleans in this quaint and beautiful land, complete with jazz, mint juleps (non-alcoholic), unique shops and even a haunted antebellum mansion! Wander through the French Quarter and check out the one-of-a-kind merchandise in the shops. This is a great area to sit and soak in the atmosphere, and is a favorite for many Disneyland Ò regulars.

ATTRACTIONS

HAUNTED MANSION - "Grim grinnin' ghosts" greet you in this home of 999 spooks! Guests enter through a foyer, which magically "stretches" before your eyes. You then walk on to a moving platform and board your own "doom buggy" to journey through the dark mansion populated with all sorts of ghosts and ghoulies. Although there are some dark moments, the ride is fine for all but the most easily-scared children. Watch out for hitchhiking ghosts! Guests in wheelchairs must transfer to ride.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN - A perennial favorite, this slow moving boat ride (with a couple of short "dips" thrown in for a little thrill) is a Disney classic. Guests board their pirate boat and travel through an audio-animatronic pirate adventure. Watch as the pirates take over a Spanish fort and pillage and plunder the town. Recently renovated, this ride features amazing detail and is a treat for the eyes. Just remember - "dead men tell no tales!" Guests in wheelchairs must transfer to ride.

THE DISNEY GALLERY - This walk-through exhibit up the stairs in New Orleans Square was originally built to be a private apartment for Walt, but unfortunately he died before it was completed. Now it is used for Disneyland Ò-related art and collectible displays.

RESTAURANTS & REFRESHMENTS

BLUE BAYOU RESTAURANT - The only restaurant in Disneyland Ò to take same-day reservations, this is a favorite for many with its cool, dark interior, Cajun-inspire food and views of the Pirates boats as they meander by. The restaurant features a full menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, seafood, chicken and beef. Limited same day reservations are taken at the entrance to the restaurant; go there first thing in the morning if you want a prime reservation time. Healthy selections and vegetarian options available.

CAFÉ ORLEANS - This buffeteria style restaurant features sandwiches (the mufaleta is a favorite), chicken in Creole sauce, salads, clam chowder and more. Kid's meals available.

FRENCH MARKET RESTAURANT - Southern-style cooking is featured, including fried chicken, beef stew and jambalaya.

LA PETITE PATISSERIE - If you're in the mood for a French pastry on a stick, this is the place for you. Also has a variety of specialty coffee drinks. Open seasonally.
